Dialogue.

“You are 1 person, out of 7 billion people, on 1 planet, out of 8 planets, in 1 star system, out of 100 billion star systems, in 1 galaxy, out of 100 billion galaxies. And you are enormously insignificant.
Out of 100 billion galaxies, existing in 100 billion star systems, out of 7 billion people, you have your own unique genetic makeup, your thumbprint is yours alone. You can create art, and write a song, and are depended upon by others that love you. You are enormously significant.”

Chandigarh brings to you the first of it’s kind ‘Dialogue’ event to discuss, share, learn and unlearn about topics under the universe, literally.

What is Dialogue?

A platform for common people to come and discuss about ordinary as well as extraordinary topics. The event will take place every fortnight to discuss about topics, to create new ideas and to think out of the box. The session in general might contain interesting videos, good speakers, fun activities and group discussions.

Why Dialogue?

Selfish reasons. Yes, you read that right. I wanted to experiment an idea where I could mix and mash my interests, my hobbies, my skills and my passion.

And hence I’ve taken up my skill to facilitate and reach out to a community of people who get to discuss about 2 different topics during each session. One related to space science and another related to inter-personal skills. And what’s better? I get to raise funds for a cause I believe in through the event.

Are you curious about outer space? Are you a keen learner and a keen observer? Are you interested in improving your inter-personal skills? Then, this is the place for you. Presenting to you:

On one hand , being a space scientist, I’ve always aspired to take the topic of space science to general public, get them fascinated by the beauty of outer space and perhaps and get them to actively understand one of the fastest booming industry.

On the other hand, I’ve grown as a leader volunteering at different organizations, I decided to use the platform to help people build their inter-personal skills. As an add-on, the event will also help generate funds for a cause.

Dharmesh:

There’s a lot happening with Space right now. Companies like Space X and Virgin Galactic are planning space exploration. India, too, has had a great stint over the last couple of years. So it’s hot. People are curious about it, and there are few, if not zero, platforms where one can gather and discuss the topic.

At Yellow Cursor, we are always looking for challenging social projects. We worked with Malang, one of the biggest performing arts festivals in New Delhi when they were bringing social impact through performing arts, we partnered with Make a Difference for their Inter-school Quiz Competition, IGNITE, and we also celebrated World Handwriting Day as Siyaahi for the first time in Chandigarh. We think that Dialogue has the potential to go big. Arvind has the experience, expertise and the ammunition to take it forward. So Arvind and I met and discussed his vision and rapidly listed a few ideas about what Dialogue would be doing and started defining a personality.

Arvind wanted Dialogue to be written out in big letters. We agreed that we should capture the essence of the idea but by keeping it very simple. We wanted something that people can associate with, and which invited Dialogue. And here’s what we came up with:

Here’s the rationale behind it:
It’s a dialogue. Lots of people are going to talk about planets, stars and more celestial bodies and concepts. The dots represent people as well as celestial bodies.

The different colours represent different opinions as well as few colours of the planets in our solar system. The dark grey in the background is the colour of the space enveloping everything.

The font used for ‘Dialogue’ is Dean Martin: freely available and casual. Appeals to people of different age groups and invites dialogue.

All in all, this is going to be one kickass forum for people to come together, discuss and share ideas. Make use of this exciting opportunity. Looking forward to seeing you all at the event.
